Why was the name "Lambs to Lions" chosen?
The club co-founder's name (Susan- Lamb Robinson) inspired the naming of the club.The name also accurately shows our club's aim for each of it's members.
So what is the aim of Lambs to Lions Toastmasters club?
As a Toastmasters club, we aim to give members a chance to overcome their fear and timidness of public speaking and become more confident in themselves by using the skills they learn during our meetings.
When and how often does the club meet?
The club meets every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month from 11:30 am to 1 pm.
What happens at club meetings?
A lot of things.
But here's some ways our members work on their public speaking skills:
- The Prepared Speeches
Here, members present their prepared speeches which can. They choose their own topics but follow a set of guideline provided in their Competent Communication manual.
- The Impromptu Speaking Session a.k.a the Table-Topics session
Here, members try to improve their ability to think on the spot and speak for 1-2 minutes on a topic/question that they've just been given.
Members can also develops their leadership skills by volunteering for certain meeting roles. These meeting roles can be Meeting Chair, Timer, Grammarian, Evaluator, etc. Each role has certain function that keeps the meeting running smoothly
It's best to come see and experience a club meeting for yourself to truly know what happens in a meeting.
Can I visit the club as a guest?
Definitely.
Guests are always welcome to get a feel of the meeting and see if our club is a right fit for you. Feel free to visit our club meetings and ask any member questions if you feel lost or overwhelmed.
